At Cherrybrook Public School we offer students in Years 1-6 Chess Club. Chess lessons are also available at a cost. Students can choose to participate in either or both activities.
CHESS CLUB
The school Chess Club runs events in the library (normally on a Thursday) at lunchtime. There is no cost for this activity and it is organised by a CPS teacher.
There is a different event scheduled for each term and the number of players is limited to 32 for each event:-
TERM 1: Chess Teams Competition
This is open to students in Years 2-6 who are proficient chess players.
TERM 2: Junior Chess Championship
This is open to students in Years 1-4 who are proficient chess players.
TERM 3: Senior Chess Championship
This is open to students in Years 5-6 who are proficient chess players.
TERM 4: Blitz Chess Championship
This is open to students in Years 1-6 who are proficient chess players.
Announcements are made at school in the week prior to these events. Students are responsible for ensuring they put their name down on the entry sheet on time.
